King’s Wife Attempted Suicide, Police Report Reveals
According to a recent report, Larry King’s wife tried to commit suicide last month in Utah. Larry king is a TV personality and also a CNN broadcaster.
King’s wife reportedly consumed an overdose of medicines, which were prescribed to her for depression. This revelation was made by a police report that was disclosed to public on Thursday. Shawn Southwick King is the seventh wife of the broadcaster.
TMZ. com, a celebrity website, posted the report on its site. According to the report, an officer who belonged to the Provo Utah police went into King’s house on May 2.
Snooki Attacks Tanning Tax
The lead star of Jersey Shore, Snooki has attacked US President, Barrack Obama for raising the taxes on tanning. It was claimed by Snooki that the President has intentionally raised taxes on tanning.
She found an unlikely supporter in Arizona, Senator John McCain. McCain is a skin cancer survivor and Snooki hoped he would like to get a tan.
McCain also supporter her on Twitter by declaring that he would have never increased the tax on tanning. However, he still cautioned Snooki to wear sunscreen.
ITV to launch video-on-demand smartphone app
ITV has plans to expand its catch-up TV service, called ITV Player, by launching a mobile app that will bring the service to iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Google smartphones.
The concerned mobile app, which will compete with the BBC iPlayer, is expected to be available by September this year. The BBC iPlayer provides users with access to watch live TV as well as content from its catch-up TV service, on their handsets.
Budget Deficits Less in May
The US budget deficit for the month of May is less than anticipated and also almost 30% less than the deficit experienced last year in the month of May.
However, the US Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke warned that the Government needs to take steps in order to tackle the big amount of budget deficit. He pointed that if steps to tackle the deficit were not taken, it could threaten the entire US economy.
Obama Wants Administration to Become More Efficient
US President Barrack Obama has ordered federal agencies to save nearly $3 billion by selling properties that are unused and to merge operations to improve efficiency. He wants that the federal agencies should improve their working style and take measures that help cut wastage and increase efficiency and lead to improvement in the working process.
Besides taking these steps, the President also wants his staff to adopt environment friendly initiatives and help save energy by adopting these steps. He has also instructed the staff in White House to follow these measures.
OFT to investigate investment banks over underwriting fee
Britain's competition regulator, the Office of Fair Trading, has announced that it would open an investigation into the performance of investment banks in underwriting corporate fundraising.
The OFT said it would investigate the equity underwriting market, where firms try to raise funds by selling new shares. The investigation will focus on the level of competition and how the process of shares' sale is carried out.
Asos gets closer to sales target of £1bn by 2015
Asos, which targets young women with its celebrity-inspired fashions, has reportedly been in discussion with several retailers including chemist chain Alliance Boots to let customers to collect their orders at Boots stores, in a bid to steer clear of the frustration of missed deliveries.
Asos wants to expand its service without having to open stores. Reports suggest that Alliance Boots is pursuing talks with Asos to bring more brands into its stores. Argos and WH Smith could also follow move, however, Asos declined to make any comment on the report.

Yachters Reject Involvement in Water Contamination of Darwin Harbor
The Darwin yachters have denied the blames that toilet water from boats has contaminated the suburban beaches that have been closed after higher levels of polluting were detected.
The Mindil, Vesteys, East Point and Nightcliff beaches were blocked for swimming and fishing as the water was found to contain high levels of E. coli bacteria.
Rejecting the allegations, the Darwin Sailing Club's Barry Starcke said that sailors do not discharge the holding tanks near land to avoid any kind of pollution and that when the boats are tied up; they use the club toilet facilities.
Eight-Year-Old Girl Diagnosed with Meningococcal Disease in North Tasmania
In northern Tasmania, an eight-year-old girl has been detected with a case of meningococcal sickness.
The Director of Public Health, Dr. Roscoe Taylor, says that the girl was taken to the Launceston General Hospital at the weekend and examinations prove that she suffers from a Group B meningococcal contagion.
Dr. Taylor says that her state is acceptable and she is recuperating well.
Volunteers Get Trained to Save Seabirds from Getting Entangled
The co-creator of Australian Seabird Rescue, Marny Bonner said that a lot of pelicans were by mistake tangled or trapped by unfocused set lines at any one time.
Ms. Bonner, who has been saving pelicans and teaching volunteers across Australia for 17 years, made the assertion at a recent seabird rescue practicum in Mandurah.
She assisted in training over 30 people who journeyed from as far-off as Busselton and Joondalup.
Ms. Bonner said that it was great to reunite with some of the present volunteers and to meet several people who are eager to go out and lend a helping hand.

Red’s the Color: Hospital Alerts Women of Heart Disease
Thursday saw staff, patients and visitors, all dressed in red at Campbetltown Hospital.
The hospitals lend out support to the Heart Foundation's yearly Go Red for Women campaign, which encourages wearing red, in order to raise awareness of female heart disease.
Director of Cardiology, Dr. Rohan Rajaratnam, said that the campaign was able to highlight the fact that heart disease was the leading killer in Australian women.
He said that as a matter of fact, heart disease kills four times as many women in the nation as breast cancer, that is, no less than 11,000 women each year.

Dentists Refute the Allegations of Dodgy Deals
The federal Government has released a list of dentists, who have been falsifying about $700,000 from the Medicare Dental Scheme. There are 11 dentists in the list. Before this revelation an audit of 49 dental specialists was taken into order.

British astronomers develops telescope to find aliens
Astronomers at the universities of Portsmouth, Oxford and Southampton have teamed up with other British experts to develop a powerful telescope, called the European Low Frequency Array (Lofar), which will help in finding aliens in other solar systems.
In the first stage of Lofar telescope’s development, ninety-six radio antennae are being erected this week in a field at the Chilbolton Observatory close to Andover in Hampshire. Eventually, 5,000 separate antennae being positioned across Europe.
