If India is making efforts to reject a claim put up by the British scientists that a superbug has entered the UK from India, which is resistant to even the strongest antibiotics; then even UK can substantiate this matter with a proof that in just one hospital, 22 patients had been identified with the same case in only three months.

This is how NDM-1 (New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase-1) can be recognized to create ripples both in India and in the globe. About 22 patients have been isolated with the super bacteria in Hinduja Hospital in Mahim in a period of three months.

27 Years Old Female Polar Bear Euthanized in San Francisco Zoo

San Francisco had a 27 years old female polar bear, which had been a long-term resident in the place, but she lost her life on Thursday. Due to a liver failure, Andy had been euthanized, as she was considered to be in ‘an irreversible medical condition’.

Tanya Peterson, Executive Director and President of the San Francisco Zoo, said, “This is always the hardest decision, but everyone feels this is the right decision for Andy. She was an ambassador for her species and she will be deeply missed by everyone”.

Plane Crashes into Lake Erie, 4 Detroit Saved

A small plane, on Friday, had badly crashed into Lake Erie next to the dock of a ferry line on South Bass Island; but Ohio Highway Patrol reported that four Detroit residents, who were aboard, have saved their lives with just a few bumps and bruises.

The 1977 Cessna 210 plane happened to crash at 11:30 a. m. while it was making an attempt to land at the Put-in-Bay Airport, next to the southern tip of the island and not much distant from a dock used by the Miller Boat Line.

The Humane Society Of Owasso Launched for Pets’ Sake

In an attempt to help more homeless animals in a more effective way, the Human Society of Tulsa celebrated the inauguration of its Owasso branch on the 14th of August, starting its activities with a massive event for pets, including free food and adoptions. Tulsa reported that the main cause behind establishing this new facility is to decrease the pressure on other Tulsa pet care facilities, which are heavily crowded with homeless animals in need of help.

Death of Liver Donor Puts Hospital under Review

After the case of the death of a man who donated a part of his liver to his brother, a Colorado hospital deferred its live liver donations and transplantations.

The 34 years old man who got demised was a resident of Watertown naming Ryan Arnold, who gave the chunk of his liver to his brother Chad. After the four days of the surgery on August 2, Ryan gave up his life.

The suspension in the live liver transplantation is being considered as the rare step taken by the hospital, as stated by the University of Colorado Hospital.

On Friday, Federal and State Health Officials reported 7 confirmed cases, in addition to 2 suspected ones, of typhoid fever, claiming the source of infection to be associated with the mamey tropical fruit distributed by Goya Foods Incorporation.

The Public Health Officials added that 5-7 victims confirmed that they all consumed milkshakes or smoothies made of that mamey, a sweet frozen fruit product. The unexpected outbreak reached residents of both Nevada and California.

Levana Wireless Video Baby Monitors Have Been Recalled

The U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) declared to recall around 800 Levana Wireless Video Baby Monitors distributed by Circus World Displays Limited (CWD) and made in China, as they inflicted overheating peril.

CPSC has also barred the use of the monitors by various Companies, till they are instructed to do so. Any further commercialization and marketing of the product will be illegal.

The defect lies in the wiring of the Levana Wireless Video Baby Monitor camera, which gets swelter quickly and generates smoke, creating risk for the danger of burning.

BP Oil Spill Endangering Birds

North Texas at a Threat of Letter Containing White Powder

Letters are being sent to the addresses across North Texas with the same postmark and content. Starting from August 5, almost 25 letters have reached churches, mosques and businesses places. These letters are said to contain a white powder, which has been tested negative for any dangerous substances.

The cost of owning a house has gone down by 4% in past two years

According to a research report, the cost of owning a house has dropped down by 4% in the past two years. This has declined as a result of smaller mortgage payments in Scotland. A study conducted by Bank of Scotland suggests that the cost to run a house fell by 388 Euros.

This cost has dropped to 8562 Euros from 8949 Euros in between April 2008 and April 2010.

The housing costs are now about 28% of the average earnings. It has been reduced from 32% two years ago. A drop of 19% in the mortgage payments equates to around 735 euros in Scotland.

French finance minister optimistic about Euro and Greece

French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde has described the Euro as a credible as well as solid currency.

Christine Lagarde also said in an interview with the BBC that she was optimistic debt-laden Greece would be able to slash its public debt.

Lagarde’s comments emerged as the Euro slipped to a 19-month low against the pound on Thursday. Sterling was trading at €1.2351 against the Euro in morning trading, the lowest since November 2008.

F&C REIT to launch first open-ended property fund

F&C REIT is going to set up an open-ended real estate fund in a bid to acquire discounted commercial properties.

The fund, which will be managed by Julian Smith and Guy Glover of F&C REIT, is structured as a non-Ucits Retail Scheme. It will be launched over a four-week period, starting June 28, with a fixed price of 100p per unit.

Commenting on the prospective of the fund, Smith said, "As the economy slowly recovers, we anticipate the demand for property will increase and, given low cash returns, believe that the opportunity cost and yield for commercial property is very attractive.”

Lloyds TSB to reduce overdraft charges

Banking giant Lloyds TSB will reduce the overdraft charges on its current accounts from 2nd of December this year.

The fee for a bounced cheque will be hacked by 50 per cent, from £10 to £5. The hacked overdraft fees will affect both daily and monthly fees. Customers who go over their overdraft limits without permission will have to face the daily and monthly fees on their accounts cut from December.

Lloyds TSB had been facing criticism from customers as well as banking lobby groups for high overdraft charges.

He came with a Mets cap on his head and a white T-shirt that gave him the look of a sportsperson.

There, he got an opportunity to show the players around him that he can also toss a useful baseball pitch.
